Greenville - Maude Catherine Batson Poole, 75, of 208 Courtney Circle, wife of the late Boyce Alvin Poole, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Rolling Green Village. Born Feb. 8, 1928, in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late William Mills and Leila Gosnell Batson. Mrs. Poole retired from EMB-Tex and was a member of Buncombe Road Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Dennis Alvin Poole, and wife, Weesie, of Simpsonville; three sisters, Geneva B. Wilson, of Greenville, Ruth B. Watkins, of Charleston, and Lillian B. Styles, of Travelers Rest; a brother, William M. Batson III, of Greenville; two granddaughters, Kathy Poole, of Simpsonville, and Lauren Poole, of Clemson; a grandson, Matt Poole, of Simpsonville; a special sister-in-law, Lura Ellen McJunkin, of Travelers Rest; and many loving nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Mrs. Poole was predeceased by three sisters; and five brothers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock in The Howze Mortuary Chapel, with burial at Grand View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10 to 11, at The Howze Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Buncombe Road Baptist Church, 111 Courtney Circle, Greenville, SC 29617. The family will be at their respective homes. The Howze Mortuary, Funeral Directors, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
