Earl J. Morris was born August 5, 1921 in Jackson County and departed this Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Berea, being 87 years of age. He was the son of the late Jake & Dula (Johnson) Morris.

Earl is survived by his loving wife- Jean (Johnston) Morris of Sand Gap, KY and by three children- Gary Morris & his wife Wanda, Michael Morris & his wife Anita all of Sand Gap, KY and Susan Maupin of Berea, KY. He was blessed with eight grandchildren- Bo Ryan Morris (Tasha), Jake Wesley Morris, Gary Shane Morris, Todd Jeremy Morris, Leah Tiffany Moody (Bryan), Emily Grace Maupin, Molly Hannah Maupin & Robert Earl Benge Maupin and by four great-grandchildren- Caleb Hayden Morris, Chase Hunter Morris, Haden Russell Morris Moody & Cameron Gage Morris.

In addition to his parents, Earl was also preceded in death by a brother- Audie Morris and by three sisters- Bertha Marcum, Gladys Ward and Flossie Morris.

Earl was a member of the Sand Gap Christian Church. He was also a retired post master; a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and a member of the Indian Creek Lodge. Earl loved to coon hunt and work with wood making treasures for his family to keep.
