Captain James Henry Martin Neblett was born June June 25, 1827, the son of Dr. Sterling Neblett and his wife Ann Smith MacFarland of Lunenburg County, Virginia. He was Captain of Neblett's (Coleman's) Company, Virginia Artillery, CSA. The company was stationed near Norfolk and later at Drewry's Bluff on the James River about six miles below Richmond. Captain Neblett was partially paralyzed in October 1862 when a big gun manned by his company exploded. He resigned his commission on October 21, 1862. He died on June 8, 1870.
