Sgt. Timothy S. Patterson of Rocky Mount, Virginia was a graduate of Franklin County High School where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team serving as captain his senior year. Scott received many awards as a wrestler of which was winner of the Big Orange Tournament in 2002 and second in state competition. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps for six years with one tour of duty in Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq, receiving numerous awards and citations including two Combat Action Ribbons. Preceding Scott in death were his grandfather, Alfred Andrew Law; grandmother, Pearl Law Arrington; stepgrandfather, Maynard Arrington; and uncle, Larry "Buck" Law. Surviving to cherish Scott's memory are his wife, Deirdre; children, Evan and Andra; and their mother, Sara Patterson; father, Timothy Ray Patterson and wife, Estella; mother, Betty Law Patterson; brothers, Timothy Patrick Patterson, Jesse James Lynn Patterson and Dustin Cobler; grandparents, William N. and Nancy Bambeck Patterson among others. He died in Surf City at age 24.
