John Hamilton Israel was born on a farm near Beallsville, Sunbury Twp., Monroe Col., OH on 2 July 1873. His sister Faith Beatrice Israel was born 17 Nov. 1876 on the same farm. Their parents were Noble Jefferson Israel (1836-1888) and Susan "Sarah" J. Mathews. After Noble's death in 1888 the family moved to Deschutes, OR. There were other siblings, but they did not make this move. Sarah died in Crook Col., OR on 29 June 1916. Her body was shipped to Pendleton to be buried near her mother.
Neither John nor Faith ever married. They were subsistance farmers so far as I can tell. Faith died 5 July 1959 and was followed in death by John on 3 May 1963.
