Abner Alloway Strange Sr. was the son of Anne (Mitchell) and John Alloway Strange. Abner married his first wife, Elizabeth Mitchell, on August 10, 1782 in Fluvanna County, Virginia. Their *children were Abner Alloway Strange Jr., Gideon M. Strange, Judith Strange, Thomas M. Strange, Mildred A. Strange, John Strange, Eleanor Strange, Ann Nancy Strange, Martha M. A. Strange and Rebecca Ann Strange. Abner married his second wife, **Mary Kent, on December 10, 1805 in Franklin County, Virginia. Their *children were Harriet Vinson Strange, Elizabeth Michel Strange, Jemima M. Vanison Strange, Mary Strange, Archillus Michel Strange, George James Strange, Barbara Frances Strange, Edward Saunders Strange, Rebecca F. Strange, and Sarah Jane Strange. According to his Revolutionary War payment records, and his daughter Ann's Bible Record, Abner died on August 27, 1834. The death year of 1835 on his military marker application and on his gravestone is incorrect.
