Gloster, Miss., Jan. 19. — Enoch B. McLain, died at his home here Tuesday morning. Mr. McLain who was 85 years old was one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Amite county. A native of this county, he spent his entire life here, for years having large planting and mercantile interests, which he conducted most successfully, and accumulated a large estate. Up to a few years ago he was the largest land owner in Amite county.

Mr. McLain was married three times, and was the father of thirteen children, twelve of whom are now living. His sons are former Congressman F. A. McLain, Wm. G. McLain, Robt. E. L. McLain, and Allen McLain, of Gloster; Albert A. McLain of Belzonia, Miss.; Clarence E. McLain, of Shelby, Miss. His daughters are Mrs. W. L. Causey, Mrs. Jno. Nunnery, Mrs. B. E. Jacobs, Mrs. Taylor Ratcliff, Mrs. W. H. Ratcliff, of Gloster and Amite county, and Mrs. E. R. Harrell, of Lafayette, La. His wife who was Mrs. Sallie VanNorman Garrow, also survives.

The funeral service will be held at the Galilee Baptist Church, of which he has been a member for sixty years, Wednesday.
