Born April 30, 1841, the son of Pryor Daniel and Mary Susan Elmore. Served in Co. I, 20th Va. Infantry (Civil War). Transferred Aug. 10, 1864 to Gary's Cavalry Brigade and served under Gen. Fitzhugh Lee. Married Catherine P. Faris Oct. 3, 1865. After Catherine died he married Ella C. Jones of Emporia.
