Robert H. Abell, 73, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died March 14, 2006, at his residence. Born in Calvary, Abell served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a commercial painter and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. He was preceded in death by: one brother and two sisters. Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Ann Abell; six daughters, Marie Stephanie Ellis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Mary Denise Hayman of Edgewater, Fla., Sharon Patrice Ivey of Port Orange, Fla., Julia Renee Thurmond of Centralia, Ill., Kathy Lynn Abell of Edgewater, Fla., and Dena Barrows of Port Orange, Fla.; a son, Robert Abell Jr. of South Daytona, Fla.; two brothers, Marion Abell of Louisville and Joe Abell of Hudson, N.Y.; two sisters, Sue Smith of Lebanon and Elsie Reynolds of Louisville; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
