Henry Bittner Dies Tuesday At Home In Salem

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hope Evangelical church for Henry Bittner, 70, lifelong resident of Carroll county who passed away at 1:20 Tuesday morning at the farm home in Salem Township, west of Chadwick. The Rev. L. Phillips, pastor of the church will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery.

Henry Bittner was born February 1, 1867 in Elkhorn Grove township, the son of George and Dorothy Bittner. He was married on April 9, 1902 to Cora Cummings and they went to housekeeping and lived the 35 years of their married life at the farm in Salem township where he passed away. For the past 13 years Mr. Bittner was employed as gardener at the James Campbell home in Mt. Carroll.

Surviving besides the widow are five daughters, Dorothy, Mrs. Leo Schleuning of Chadwick; Emma, Mrs. Hoyt Ferris, and Hazel, Mrs. Paul Saitwell, both of Savanna; Mrs. Mayme Mulford of Mt. Carroll and Helen, at home; four sons, George of Argo-Fa; Wellman of Milledgeville; and Robert and John at home. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, and a brother, Charles, who makes his home with the family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister and one brother.
