From the Notre Dame Educational Center and Archives of S.N.D. (Sisters of Notre Dame), is the following statement, "Emma entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Notre Dame in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 10th, 1886. She was invested in the religious habit and received the name of Sister Mary Clementia on January 6th, 1887, and professed vows on April 11th, 1889."
She was highly thought of among the other Sisters, and was an older sister to Elizabeth Horning, aka Sister Mary Fortunata, S.N.D. (who was very instrumental in the Catholic educational system of the Cleveland diocese).
Sadly, her life was brief, as she passed away at the young age of twenty-eight of tuberculosis at Mt. St. Mary Institute in Cleveland. She was buried within the vault of the Sisters of Notre Dame at St. Joseph Cemetery, also in Cleveland, Ohio. Rest In Peace, Sister Mary Clementia.
