Marjory Theresa Abbott, 80, New Smyrna Beach, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Bert Fish Medical Center. Born in Paterson, N.J., Mrs. Abbott came to this area in 1985 from East Williston, N.Y. Mrs. Abbott graduated from Mary Immaculate School of Nursing in Queens, N.Y. She then earned a bachelor's degree from Pace University, New York City, and a master's degree from C. W. Post University, Old Brookville, Long Island, N.Y. She retired as Deputy Chair of the Allied Health Science Department at the Borough of Manhattan Community College where she also taught respiratory therapy. Mrs. Abbott was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, the Smyrna Yacht Club, where she was active with its book club and canasta group; and member and past treasurer of the New Smyrna Beach Chapter, American Association of University Women. Survivors include her husband, Richard; son, Richard, Jr., East Williston, N.Y; four daughters, Jacqueline Mullan, Garden City South, N.Y, Victoria Pitcavage, East Williston, Jeannine Jennette, Westbury, N.Y.; and Marjory Horne, Pompano Beach; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1p.m. Thursday, February 21, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Friends may call from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach chapel. The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Hospital Foundation, Office of Development and Public Affairs, 100 Port Washington Blvd., Roslyn, NY 11576.
