Douglas Clinton Measel of Sterling Heights passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, at the age of 88.
Doug was born on March 24, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan to Clinton and Gladys (nee Hunt) Measel. Doug married Beverly Read on October 22, 1955, at Emmanuel Methodist Church in East Detroit; they were married 66 years when Beverly passed away in 2021. Doug enjoyed woodworking, golfing, hunting, fishing, and shooting skeet. He also loved going to Home Depot as often as possible. Doug will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Loving husband of the late Beverly; father of Kimberlee (Larry) Hayden, Tammy (Rick) VanMaele, and Tracy (Terrence) Cronin; grandfather of Rachel Hayden, Steven (Jennifer) VanMaele, Timothy VanMaele, Ericka VanMaele, Brandon Cronin and Zachary Cronin; and brother of Roger (Diane) Measel and Janis (Paul) Norris. Doug is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank, Macomb. The memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association.
