According to my family members I have researched with, James was the son of Thomas Newport and Elizabeth Ellis. He was a boarder in my great grandmother's household and married my great grandmother, Edith Mae McCann Hamby. My grandmother, Margaret Louise Newport Harness was their child, as well as Tootsie Imogene Newport. James died at the young age of 30 from an ulcer, according to death certificate.
