After graduating from high school, Jim served his country in the US Navy from 1953-1975. After retiring from the US Navy, he worked as an auto mechanic. He loved his family, gardening, fishing, camping, cars, country music and traveling with his wife and friends, Elizabeth and Merle.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, William T. Vaughn and Paul A. Vaughn; and his loving wife of fifty-five years, Mattie Vaughn. Left to cherish his memory is his sister; his four children; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the many people who helped and supported the family.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Moyock Baptist Church, 123 Oak Street, Moyock NC 27958 with his son-in-law, Pastor Ellsworth officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. He will be laid to rest at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City is serving the Vaughn family.
