Mr. Moore enlisted in the U.S. Navy in earlier years and served as a hospital corpsman. His time spent in the service totaled eight years and 18 months of that time he served with the Marines.

After his years in the Navy, Mr. Moore tried several different fields of work before deciding to go into the Newspaper business. He eventually became Editor of the Lancaster News and remained there until his retirement. Mr. Moore loved music, books and he especially love to read history.

In 2005 Mr. Moore underwent a laryngectomy. After that procedure, he encouraged people all over the world who had that surgical procedure. Mr. Moore loved to talk with people online.
