John Travis Egger, 57, went home to be with Jesus November 13, 2021 at the Brownwood Hospital. He had just turned 57 ten days earlier. He was born in Brownwood on Election Night 1964 to Johnny and Jane Egger.

He was everybody's rock. He helped anyone who needed help and never asked for anything in return. There will never be another Travis. He gave and gave of himself to so many. He was devoted to and cared for his mother who lived next door until she went home to Heaven in 2011. He was currently caring for his father, who he was also devoted to, who lives next door. Travis' passing was so unexpected and a great shock to all of our family. We miss him so very much already!

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, baseball, and football games. He once had an article published on the front page in the Brownwood Bulletin about his pumpkin carvings. His daughter told me he carved pumpkins for her class all through her school years. He was so talented! He made the best pecan pies ever and brought one to his dad every Thanksgiving. Every Christmas season he would go and buy lots of poinsettia plants for his step-mom Flora. He was a Brownwood High School graduate, Class of 1982, and a member of the National Honor Society. In order to be a member he had to maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher which he did all throughout high school. That in itself shows what an intelligent man he was.

His favorite thing was spending time with his grandchildren, Rylee, K'Lee, and Toree, and watching his grandson Rylee show his lambs. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and his biggest pleasure. Travis also loved getting to help his father-in-law remodel his house. He was also a big George Strait fan. Travis attended many of his concerts and even had a George Strait song as a ringtone on his phone.

He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Jane (Cagle) Egger.

Rest in sweet, heavenly peace dear Travis until we meet again. ❤

EDIT ~ 3 December 2021: We received his death certificate today and we're very upset. The cause of death was listed wrong because he was misdiagnosed by the "doctor." The true cause of death was clogged arteries. We have this information from a very credible source, the mortician. That's not just what we "think." It's the truth. From Brownwood, he should have been flown to a larger hospital where he could have been under the care of a competent doctor and had immediate surgery.
