William Henry Butterfield, age 81 of Metamora, passed away on September 22nd, 2021. He was born in Lapeer on September 4th, 1940. In his early teens he would compete in horse shows. His father started the Horse Show Saddle Club for the Oakdale Riders 4-H Club for which he was an active member. The loves of his life was his wife, kids, grandchildren, and classic cars. He loved attending car shows and went to every show in Lapeer. He also loved participating in the Woodward Dream Cruise.

William is survived by his wife of 61 years Joyce Butterfield; children William (Lori) Butterfield, Terria Ellis, Jerry (Carrie) Butterfield; grandchildren Trish (Lane), Mike (Liz), Nikki (Mike), Jakob, Thomas (Jamie), Jamie (Max), Justin (Jessica); great-grandchildren Markus, Skyler, Taylor, Saveta, Sophia, Alana, Christopher, Lincoln, Hazel, and Mitchel; sister Mary; also many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Flora Butterfield; granddaughter Saveta Ellis; sisters Betty and Bonnie.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. William will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Gardens West in Rochester, MI. Friends may visit on Monday, October 11th from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
