Laura was born in Kingston, New York on August 29, 1955, and attended Kingston High School. She was the daughter of the late Roland and Margaret (Faass) Clerc.
Laura and her former husband managed the Corner Rest in Port Ewen for several years. In 1989 she moved to South Florida and began beautician school, received her license, and began a career that she was born to do. Laura worked as a hairdresser for many years in Florida and Ohio. Her favorite place of employment was Andros Island as she loved ocean life, her job, and her friends. Laura also enjoyed jewelry making which she liked to display at her house and flea markets. She also loved animals and had several pets over the years.
