Delaine Ray Baxter, born at his grandmother's house on Sept. 12, 1952, to Leo Sr. and Lola Baxter. Growing up in Nicoma Park and graduating Choctaw High School in 1970, he furthered his education at Central State University with a bachelor's degree in education, then went on to earn two master's degrees.
He began his teaching career at Choctaw High School, moving to McLoud schools for a 30-plus-year span. During those years, he was a teacher, wrestling coach, and drivers ed teacher, ending as the Vice Principle at McLoud High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leo Jr. and Tommy. Survived by two sisters, Susan and Eva; and three brothers, Bill, Rowdy, and Michael; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
