Priscilla Jane Duty was born on a bright day in June of 1930 to beloved parents Odell and Ruby Carroll. She was brought home to the Carroll household in Colorado, a sweet sister to Barbara, Varvel, and Edsel Carroll. As a child she likely enjoyed what Colorado had to offer, including the seasons that Coloradans get to enjoy.
In her prime, Priscilla attended Englewood High School, and was an avid member of their alumni group, attending reunions as long as she could. She met and married Robert Duty in April of 1950. She began attending Loretta Heights for Nursing, and spent 2 years obtaining what she needed to pursue her career. She was also a long time member of Brentwood United Methodist church.
Robert and Priscilla enjoyed many different things together, but most notably being parents. They started with Vincent Mark, then giving him a brother, Robert L., and finally another brother, John M. They were devoted to their children’s needs, but both being working parents. Priscilla worked for the office of Dr. Cate for 16 years, all while being a wife, mother, devoted church member, and having her own set of things she loved. As the seasons drew on, the boys grew into men, having children of their own, and then there was another set of something she loved: grandchildren.
Commonly you could find Priscilla quilting, knitting hats and gloves for infants, gardening, walking with her beloved dog, or reading a new book. She was a voracious reader all of her life. Priscilla was a happy, loving, outgoing lady who had a great sense of humor, taught the art of sarcasm to her children and grandchildren, and was a bright light to her family, friends, and church.
After her husbands death in 2002, Priscilla filled her time with volunteering at her well loved church. She donated her time and money to make sure they were well taken care of. She also spent time with her children and grandchildren, and her loving dog.
On March 13th she passed away at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, close to the high school she was still a big part of. The home she and Robert shared stands with only the happy memories, and blessings of love she left behind. Priscilla was 89 years old.
Priscilla is survived by her sons Mark (Lila), and Robert L. (Gail); 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, Robert Duty; son, John M. Duty; and granddaughter, Deborah Duty.
