Ernest Layton McDaniel was born October 21, 1930, in Downsville, Union parish, Louisiana and died November 17, 2006 in West Monroe, Ouachita, Louisiana. Mr. McDaniel was a retired truck driver, and a proud member of The Teamster Union. He was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville and was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Oma Richardson McDaniel.
Mr. McDaniel and his childhood sweetheart, Billie T Wilhite, enjoyed 56 years of marriage. They married young, but the years were enjoyed in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee. Finally, with retirement, they returned to the hometown where they grew up.
Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Layton McDaniel, 76, of Downsville, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2006, at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church-Downsville, LA with Rev. David Barkley officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery-Downsville, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Billie McDaniel of Downsville, LA; three children; five grandchildren; a special cousin, Frankie Estep; and many other relatives and friends.
