Agatha M. Russell, 83, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Franklin United Methodist Community. She was a 24-year resident of Morgantown. She was born April 21, 1916, in Swiss City. Her parents were John and Susie (Frye) Roach. She married William M. Russell on June 5, 1947, in New Albany. He preceded her in death October 12, 1980. Survivors include a special friend Ralph W. Walden of Franklin; two stepchildren; 12 step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; four nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Lloyd and Ralph Roach; and a sister Alice Hopwood. She was a 1934 graduate of Linton High School. She was employed for several years by Morgan Canning Factory and Rider Canning Factory in Trafalgar during tomato canning season. She was previously employed for 15 years by Western Electric in Indianapolis, retiring in the early 1960s. She was a member of Swiss City United Methodist Church and attended Franklin Pilgrim Holiness Church. She enjoyed quilting, working with her roses and flower gardening. She was also a good cook. The Rev. Lonny Dunn will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W. Jefferson, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
