Johnny J was one prime example of the Hammons men. He was hard working, handsome, good natured, loving, kind and gentle. He loved life and laughed a lot. His smile went clear to his eyes. He was the s/o John Wesley Hammons and Maude Olive Brown. He was brother to 6 siblings. All of these kids were so good looking and kind hearted. Johnny J married Henryetta Jean Wurm on 9-21-1945 in Reno, Washoe Co., NV. He and Henryetta loved to dance and did so most every weekend. He also loved hunting. Johnny served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was stationed in Italy where he fought in many battles.

Cousin Johnny J was the father of three sons and seven grandchildren. He was a truck driver.

Cause of death: He experienced severe back pain which was diagnosed on Aug. 22, 2003 as Cancer. It had already metasticized into his heart, liver and kidneys. He died 10 days later. Henryetta and sons brought him back to be buried in Sutter Cemetery where so many of his family and old time friends said goodbye to this wonderful man.
