Sharon "Sherry" Carol (Mills) Davis, 71 years 6 months 7 days, died on July 6, 2018, in Denison, Texas.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Highbridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Mays officiating. She will be buried at Highbridge Cemetery, next to her son, with her grandsons and nephews serving as casket bearers. Services are entrusted to the care of Wadley's Funeral Service in Purcell. Sherry, the youngest child of Howard and Stella (Cameron) Mills, was born in the Highbridge Community near Wilburton, on December 30, 1946. She attended the rural school of Highbridge for her elementary years and then graduated from Wilburton High School in 1965.
Sherry married Norman J. Davis Jr. on June 25, 1965, in Poteau. They were married for 53 years.
She continued her education earning her associates in nursing in 1978. She became licensed and went to work at McAlester Regional Health Center in the ICU.
In 1991, they moved to Bonham, Texas, where she discovered her love for working in long term care.
Sherry loved singing, spending time with her family and taking care of people.
She was a long standing member of the Highbridge Baptist Church before moving her membership to Pilot Grove Baptist Church near Whitewright, Texas.
Sherry was diagnosed with Parkinson about six years ago and fought a long courageous battle until the very end.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Stella Mills; son, Leon Davis; brothers, Burl Eugene Mills, Don Howard Mills, and Raymond Mills; sister, Katherine Mills Thomas; mother-in-law, Iva Jo Davis, and brothers-in-law, Leonard Norton, and Alfred Thomas.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Davis, of Whitewright, Texas; sons, James Howard Davis, of Stigler, and Eddie Joe Davis, of Whitewright, Texas; grandsons, Jeremy Rosson and wife, Kara, of Bonham, Texas, Michael Donell Davis, of Whitewright, Texas, and Justin Davis, or Whitewright, Texas; granddaughter, Hailey Davis, of Whitewright, Texas; great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Jacob and Brooklyn Rosson, all of Whitewright, Texas; brothers, Boyd Mills and wife, June, of Wilburton, and Hubert (Pete) Mills, of Wilburton; sisters, Bernice Norton, of Hugoton, Kansas, and Edna (Eddie) Mills Dugger and husband, Gary, of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sharilyn Davis, of Hugo; sisters-in-law, Dorene Mills, of Texarkana, Texas, Hazel Davis, and Marilyn LaVergne; brother-in-law, Leonard Davis and wife, Kathy, and numerous nieces and nephews, which she loved, and each of them were her favorites. She is also survived by two very special family friends, Mary Nichter and Theresa Whitley, who had helped in taking care of her for several years.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her doctors, nurses and staff at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, Guardian Hospice in Sherman, Texas, and her primary care doctors and nurses at North East Medical Home Health for all the help and support during Sherry's illness.DO Not Delete or merge my wife's memorial with another.
