When he was a young man, he emigrated to America with his brother, William Roland Hill.
On the 4th of July, 1844, in Batavia, Genesee, New York, he married a young English immigrant, my 2 times great- grandmother, Sarah Ann Hart.She was the daughter of Ephraim & Sarah (Foskett) Hart.
They settled in Leslie, Ingham, Michigan, where he built a large house next door to his brother, William.
Together, he and Sarah had seven children:
Ephraim William Hill ~ 1854-1932
Alice M Hill ~ 1859-1869
Sarah Ann Hill ~ 1860-1924
George H Hill ~ 1861-1869
Albert Edward Hill ~ 1864-1922
Walter H Hill ~ 1865-1869
John Hill ~ 1868-1869
In November & December of 1869, they lost 4 of their children to "Black Diphtheria".
In 1893, after 49 years of marriage, Grandfather John died at 70 years of age.
