Born December 31, 1995, he was the beloved son of Michael Hammes and the late Helen Kiernan Hammes.
Dominic graduated early from Penn Manor High School in 2015 and went on to to attend Temple University with hopes of working in medicine like his mother. He devoted his life to service and helping others, which was exemplified through his work as a volunteer EMT and as a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Truly touching the lives of everyone he met, Dominic's inviting smile and lovable personality will be greatly missed. One of Dominic's favorite pastimes was working with his father in the garage on various projects. Dominic's best years were spent traveling the world, growing in his faith, and spending time with friends and family whom he adored.
His spirit will be kept alive by his father and siblings Peter, Ellie, and Tess. In addition to a large extended family, he is survived by maternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Kiernan, and paternal grandparents, Peter and Rose Marie Hammes. Dominic had a close group of friends and a girlfriend whom he loved madly and cherished in every moment. He will be joining his mother and grandfather, Robert T. Kiernan, in eternal happiness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 211 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Father Sherdel officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment with National Guard Honors will follow at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
