Norma Jean Fox Raines, 77, of Swannanoa, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at her residence.

Norma was born in Buncombe County on September 21, 1940 to the late Corlee Tate and Clyde Edwards. She was married to the late Nelson Raines who preceded her in death in 1995. Norma was a homemaker and attended Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Black Mountain. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially close to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband and parents, Norma was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Harold Raines and Paul Eugene Raines.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Raines of Swannanoa, Susie Burnette of Harnette County, Lisa Bartlette of Black Mountain, and Melissa Thompson of Old Fort; six sons, Jesse Raines of Ridgecrest, Andy Raines of Black Mountain, Johnny Raines of Lillington, Wilburn Raines of Lillington, Carl Raines of Asheville, and Joe Raines of Black Mountain; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Brickton Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Fletcher.
