Born on November 6, 1929 in Monroe County, GA, he was a graduate of Mary Persons High School, served in the United States Army and graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed for many years with Georgia Power Company and was a Senior Vice President at the time of his retirement. In 2001 he and his late wife Jean became founding members and residents of Carlyle Place in Macon, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Morton Head.
He is survived by his brother Emory L. Head of Hendersonville, NC. His niece Carolyn Moseley of Macon, his nephews George G. Head (Robin) of Juliette, Henry L. Head (Lisa) of Canton, special friends Larry and Marsha Freeman of Smyrna, his goddaughters Katie Freeman Wasserman (Peter) and Brittany Freeman both of Smyrna, a host of great nieces and nephews and great great-nieces and nephews.
