Charles Edwin Abels, of New Galilee, died on Monday, July 25, 2016, at the age of 86 at the Good Samaritan Hospice.
He was born on September 25, 1929, in Ravenswood, WV, to the late Frank and Lora Abels. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Bill, Ray and John, and two sisters, Geraldine and Frankie. He was also preceded by his in-laws, B.V. and Ruby Henry.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Irene (Henry) AbeIs; a son, David (Hope) Kelly; a daughter, Barbara (Jeff) King; a granddaughter, Cheyenne King; a brother, Robert (Joyce) Abels, and a sister, Elsie (John) McCullough. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and special friends.
He worked most of his life as a mechanic, receiving a variety of certificates and awards. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Twp., www.gabauerluttonfuneralhome.com. Services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Daugherty Township.
