Lydia Fern Banks, 65, of Dayton, passed away January 14, 2016. She was born August 21, 1950 in Detroit, to the late Anthony and Georgia Hampton. Lydia worked for the city of Dayton as a payroll clerk. She was a lifelong Stiver’s Tiger and spent many enjoyable years working with the alumni association.

She is survived by her son, Tony (Matthew) Ayers-Banks; daughters, Amber (Wendell) North, April Mosley; grandchildren, Clint, Chris, Kayla, Cole, Jessie; brother, Gary (Rachel) Hampton; sister, Angela (Michael) Stall; special friends, Janet Mowen, JoAnn Hampton-Moats; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Lydia was preceded in death by her foster daughter, Lola Dixon; sister, Artie McCombs; brother, Barry Hampton; and special friend, Loretta Large Swisher.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 5pm-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where funeral services will follow Wednesday at 10:30. Burial will be at Byron Cemetery in Fairborn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dayton Humane Society.
