A son of Cyrus and Lucinda (McCarty) McDaniel of Jasper county, Mississippi. He left for Union parish, Louisiana in 1886 on a Conestoga wagon with his wife, Saffronie Elizabeth Maxey and eldest son, John Williams McDaniel. He patented over 200 acres in Union parish, close to her brother, Abijah B Maxey. They were the parents of 13 children.
