Wilma Gaynell Hughes Hendrix Buchanan, 70, of 327 Gassaway Street, Central, SC died Thursday, September 9, 2004.
A native of Oconee County, she was twice married, first to the late Cleo L Hendrix and presently to Lawrence H. "Buck" Buchanan. Mrs. Buchanan was the daughter of the late J.B. and Minnie Wilson Hughes. She was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens and a member of First Baptist Church of Central.
In addition to her husband, survivors include daughter, Louise Newell and husband Dwight; sons, Jimmy Hendrix and wife Velma and Larry C. Hendrix and wife Carol; stepsons, Roe and Tom Buchanan; brothers, Harold and Ray Hughes; and sisters, Grace Nix, Ruth Sanders and Shirley Carter. Grandchildren, Angela Guido and husband Sam, Jerry Newell and wife Emily, Hope Hendrix, Tim Hendrix, Lindsay Hendrix, Russell Hendrix and LeeAnn Hendrix; and great-grandchildren, William and Lauren Newell and Brynden Guido also survives.
In addition to her first husband and parents, brothers, Lester, James and Junior Hughes predeceased Mrs. Buchanan.
Funeral services were conducted September 12, 2004 at 2:00pm in the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Tony Qualkinbush and Jim Richardson officiating. Interment was in Memory Gardens with Jimmy Hendrix, Larry Hendrix, Tim Hendrix, Russell Hendrix, Dwight Newell, Jerry Newell, Sam Guido and Kendall Shirley serving as casketbeareres and members of the Ruth Roper Circle of Central First Baptist Church serving as honorary escort.
