Donald F. Anderson, a/k/a Bokka, of Bristol, CT passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Thursday, June 12, at the age of 101 1/2
Don was born on November 24, 1912, and raised in Collinsville, the eldest son of Albert and Susie Anderson. He moved to Bristol in the 1930’s, and began working for Associated Spring Company. Don spent 42 years as the company chauffeur, before retiring in 1977.
In 1937, Don married his beloved wife, the late Ann Spielman Anderson, to whom he was married for 55 years, until her passing in 1992. Upon becoming a grandfather, Don obtained his nickname, and was lovingly known by his family and many friends as “Bokka”.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ann; his son, Donald L. Anderson, a brother, Albert Anderson, Jr. and a great granddaughter, Ashley Kehler.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospital Care Agency, especially Sak Datoo Lo Pizzo, and Bristol Hospital Hospice, especially Arielle Baracchi.
The funeral was held Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at DuPont Funeral Home, Bristol, followed by a mass in St. Gregory Church, Bristol.
Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation CT, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611 or The Ronald McDonald House of CT, 501 George St., New Haven, CT 06511.
