Alida DeRuyter Mapes,85 of Lindon died Monday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Highway 88 and Kettleman Lane. A native of Stockton, Mrs. Mapes was a lifelong resident of Linden. She retired after 20 years as a Stockton High School teacher. She formerly served on the Linden Unified School District Board of Trustees. In 1959,she was elected to the National Board of Governors of Mills College Alumnae Association. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stockton, Linden Eastern Star, Philomathean Club, Ladies Auxiliary to the California Pioneers, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, American Association of University Women, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of American Confederacy,Linden Garden Club, Stockton Garden Club and the San Joaquin Historical Society.

Mrs. Mapes is survived by her 2 sons and 3 grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11a.m. today at B.C. Wallace & Son Funeral Home 520 N. Sutter St.
