MEXICAN WAR SOLDIER DIES at AGE OF 95
STOCKTON, Jan. 28-General Thomas E. Ketcham died last night at the age of 95 years surrounded by all of the members of his family. General Ketcham was widely known throughout California in pioneer days as a miller,trader, farmer and soldier. He served in the Mexican war as lieutenant of the First New York Volunteers, known as Stevenson's regiment,and landed at Monteray,Calif. in September, 1847.
General Ketcham recruited a company in Stockton in 1861 for Conner's Regiment.Third Infantry, California Volunteers, and served throughout the Civil war. After the was General Ketcham was honored with a commission as Brigadier General of California National Guards.
Surviving the deceased is the widow, Mrs.Esther Ketcham and a daughter, Mrs. F.S.Israel, of this city.
