STEVEN B. SMETHERS, 67, of Columbia City, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at his home. Born in Fort Wayne, Steven was a minister and founder of United Christian Ministries International. Previously, he was a contractor-carpenter and member of the Fort Wayne Fire Department. He enjoyed cooking, woodworking, and spending time at Loon Lake. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Smethers of Columbia City; daughters, Michelle Roeback of Fort Wayne and Wendy Meyer of Bluffton; sister, Susan Boxell of Fort Wayne; stepsons, Mark (Kim) Gareiss and David (Jennifer) Gareiss, both of Columbia City; stepdaughter, Kendra (Ehren) Siebert of Charlottesville, Va.; and seven grandchildren. Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
