Born at New Port, Kentucky, however Mr. Hessman has lived in Indianapolis 60 years. Mr. Hessman retired six years ago. He quit school after the eighth grade at Saint Mary's parochial school and went to work as an errand boy for the Mooney-Mueller-Ward Company drug firm. Later he worked for Drop Forging Co. in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Hessman was fond of all sports. He liked to go on fishing and hunting trips, and in his early days he was a member of an amateur baseball team. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Grinsteiner Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Survivors are the widow Martha Hessman, six sons, Albert, Henry, Leo, Charles, Frank and John Hessman a daughter Rosemary Miller, brother George Hessman, and 12 grandchildren.
