Cindy "Kara" Cole Wahlquist
1959 - 2014

Early Life: Cindy Raelene Cole was born at midnight December 3, 1959, to a handsome cowboy and a beautiful artist. She arrived at the scene two months early, but then Cindy Kara Whipple Wahlquist always did things differently, even legally changing her name.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: In June of 1979, she married a good man, Stuart Randall Smith; they had two beautiful children: Jennifer Yvonne Smith Hausen and Michael William Stuart Smith. On November 11, 1989, she married her true love, Steven LeRoy Wahlquist, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He sang his way into her life and they shared many tender musical moments with family and friends. An adorable girl, Elise Wahlquist, was born to them. Kara was full of passion and love for life and for people. She loved music, daffodils, the ocean, and long conversations about anything spiritual or deeply personal. Her favorite activities included: sailing, skiing, traveling, feeding those she loved, researching family trees, being in nature and savoring Country Magazine. Her life was filled with service to her family and many others whose lives she touched through a kind word, a tender hand, or for food prepared with a heaping measure of love. She befriended the lonely, comforted the sad, fed the hungry and lifted the burdened. She brightened any room she entered with her sweet smile. Her most valued gift was her testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and the saving grace of the Atonement. Cindy Kara Cole Wahlquist passed from this life March 28, 2014.
Family Message: "While flowers are welcome, her wish would be to feed the poor or contribute to the Temple Patron Fund."
Survived By: Her beloved companion, Steven Wahlquist; three children: artistic daughter, Jennifer (Kevin Hausen); noble son, Michael Smith; sweet daughter, Elise Wahlquist; three precious grandchildren: Carter, Bryce and Ascher Hausen; her cowboy father, Lanny S. Cole Sr (Connie); mother-in-law, Maurene Wahlquist; her amazing sisters: Michelle Rene Cole Muir and Sandy LeAnn Cole Pippin; and the wittiest grandma, Fern E. Stephens.
