Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Mildred Lucille Mason, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Mason, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at Lakeview Christian Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Mildred was born November 17, 1927 in Coleman, Texas. She moved to Artesia at the age of 18 to work at Western Union. She met Bennie Mason at the Church of Christ in Artesia and they married on August 24, 1946. They were lifelong members of the Hermosa Drive Church of Christ. She and Bennie opened the doors of Bennies Western Wear in 1947 where they worked together until Bennie's death in 2006.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Beverly Wilbanks; and her son Jimmy Mason and wife Barbara. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kevin Wilbanks and wife Laurie, Shanna Chaney and husband Tommy, Glenn Mason and wife Kristy, Audra Kimpel and husband Mark, and Clay Mason. In addition she is survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Ada Harrell, two sisters, a brother, granddaughter Rhonda Madrid and a great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130 or any other children's organization.
