Jimmie Edward Allen, 71, was born September 29, 1941, and departed this life on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home.

He was the only son of George and Cora Lee Ratliff Allen, who preceded him in death. Jimmie was a long-time and faithful member of Glenwood Baptist Church. He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1960 and retired from the City of Kingsport.

He is survived by his Aunt Pansy Stremsterfer and many cousins. Jimmie is also survived by his special friends who met to eat and fellowship at the Burger King on Eastman Rd.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12-2:00 pm at the Glenwood Campus of Indian Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Reverends Tiger Brooks, Wayne Baker and Charles Roberts officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Keener Depew, Don Salley, Haskell Jones, Buck Baker, Lewis Barker and Toby Kinsler. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends from the Kingsport Senior Citizen Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Rd., Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.
