Betty S. Abernathy, age 63 of Mt. Sterling died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at her residence.

She was born October 19, 1949 in Knoxville, TN. Daughter of the late Clarence and Grace (Anderson) Lawhorn.

Betty was retired from State of Ohio Corrections Medical Center as a Nurse.

She is survived by husband, Gene Abernathy; children Ginger (John) Rowland of Washington C.H., Bill (Joy) Abernathy of Mt. Sterling, and Gina (Joe) Mellow of Grove City; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter. The family would like to thank the special care given to her by Loving Care Hospice and especially Nurse Mary Ann.

A Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been requested.

The family is being served by PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. In lieu of flowers family suggest contributions to Loving Care Hospice, P.O.Box 445, London, Ohio 43140.
