She was the daughter of Chester Norvell Pitts and his first wife, Mary Betty Gouldin. She married Roderick Gouldin about 1903. She divorced Roderick and married his brother, Phillip, in 1911. She was the mother of two girls and a boy with Roderick and four girls and two boys with Phillip.
