Miss Florence Wyman

Miss Florence Wyman, 847 South 8th Street, died at the Mayfield Hospital at 3:30 a.m. today.

Miss Wyman, who spent her adult life teaching at Mayfield High School, had retired from the teaching profession in 1969. Her teaching spanned a period from 1923 until 1969, 46 years at Mayfield High School.

She served as Dean of Women for MHS and taught English and Bible. She served as acting principal at the high school for a brief period in the early 1950's.

She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church, active in church affairs and a constant student of the Bible.

She graduated from Mayfield High School and was a graduate of Georgetown College, Georgetown, Kentucky. She obtained her graduate degree from Columbia University.

Miss Wyman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wyman, served as an educational consultant for the Annie Gardner Foundation for several years and gave personal direction to all MHS students, who indicated a desire to enter various colleges.

Miss Wyman is survived by one sister, Miss Emma Wyman, Mayfield; two nephews, Dr. James Adams, Mayfield, and Dr. John Wyman, Rockville, Maryland.

Survivors also include two nieces, Mrs. Cecil Copeland, Reidland, Kentucky, and Mrs. Dalton Leath, Fairdale, Virginia, and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Byrn Funeral Chapel.

Dr. John Huffman, minister of First Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Boyce Thomasson, Robert Wilford, Rurie Graf, Chester Quinn, Lon Carter Barton, and J. C. Maddox.

The family requests no flowers.

MAYFIELD, Ky., May 3 -- Miss Florence Wyman, a retired Mayfield school teacher, died at 3:30 a.m. today at the Mayfield Hospital.

Miss Wyman's teaching career spaned 46 years at Mayfield High School where she served as dean of women and taught English and Bible Classes.

Mrs. Wyman, a granduate of MHS, was a graduate of Georgetown College and obtained her graduate degree from Columbia University.

Survivors include a sister, Miss Emma Wyman, Mayfield; two nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Byrn Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel.
