Joel Patrick Archer, 24, of Elkview, beloved son of Wendell and Stacie Archer and beloved brother of Nicole Archer, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, unexpectedly at home.

Joel worked for FLSMIDTH-KERBS Engineering, attended WVU and was a 2007 graduate of Herbert Hoover High School. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and active in the young adult class. Joel was saved during the Judgment House, at Mt. Pleasant on October 7, 2000 and then baptized on February 24, 2002.

Joel enjoyed music, playing the guitar and drawing. He was an avid reader and was always up for a debate. Joel had a fantastic sense of humor, was quick witted and always fun to be around. Joel and his sister, Nicole, had a special brother/sister relationship. They brought out the best of each other and it was when he was with her that his soft and gentle side would show itself. His kind and gentle ways touched the lives of all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Leslie Michelle Archer; and paternal grandfather, Johnnie R. Archer.

He is survived by parents, Wendell and Stacie Hopkins Archer; and sister, Nicole Archer at home; maternal grandparents, Terry Keller of Elkview and Terry L. Hopkins of Clendenin; paternal grandmother, Viola Archer of Elkview; he is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts and cousins who will miss him dearly.

Service will be 4 p.m., Sunday, June 16, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Elkview with Pastor Lee Swor and Pastor Dean Chambers officiating.

Entombment will be in Elk Hills Memorial Mausoleum, Big Chimney, where he will be laid to rest beside his sister, Leslie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Young Adult Ministry to further the cause of their Crossroads House.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 16, at the church.

Online condolences may be sent to www.haferfuneralhome.net.
