Everett Melton Gardner, 78, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at his home.

Born May 23, 1926, in Spartanburg County, son of the late Otto Melton Gardner and Mazie Revels Gardner.

Worked for Abbott Farms and was a former part-owner of Yandle Heating and Air Conditioning Co.

A life-long member of Mountain View Baptist, where he served as Church Treasurer, Cemetery Director, and member of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a former driver for the Spartanburg Council on Aging, an avid fisherman, and a graduate of Cecil's Business College.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Lipscomb Gardner; daughters, Lana Gardner Hoerner (Ric), Debra Gardner Turner (Ezra), Sandra Gardner Reid (Kenny); a son, Gregory Melton Gardner; three granddaughters, Dana Lark Williamson (Chris), Melissa Faye Willis, Alison Danielle Turner; a grandson, Steven Gregory Gardner; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Dawson and Carson Williamson.

Visitation was held at 2:30-3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Mountain View Baptist Church, Cowpens.

Funeral services followed at 4:00 p.m. at the Church, conducted by the Rev. Steven Griffith and the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Robbins. Burial with military rites was in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris Williamson, Ric Hoerner, Ezra Turner, Kenny Reid, Dean Lindsey, and Chuck Willis. Honorary escort will be the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.

In place of flowers, memorials could be made to Mountain View Christian Academy, 650 Battleground Road, Cowpens, SC 29330.
