Edward Mack Lawter, 78, of Chesnee, SC, died Monday, February 28, 2005 at his home.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Marie (Henderson) Lawter and a son of the late Otto and Lizzie (Hughey) Lawter.

He was a member of Cherokee Springs Masonic Lodge and a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Peggy Blanton of Chesnee, Debra Rountree of Inman, Teresa Bishop of Gaffney; two sisters, Ava Lou Wolberth of Spartanburg, Dorothy Presnell of Chesnee; and five grandchildren, Caroline Cantrell, Patrick Dickson, Erin Blanton, Matthew Bishop, and Ethan Bishop.

The family received friends Tuesday, March 1, 2005, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at Buck Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Odell Mosley and Rev. Skip Snyder officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

In addition to flowers, memorials could may be made to Regional Hospice, 120 Heywood Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to Buck Creek Baptist Church, 506 Buck Creek Road, Chesnee, SC 29323.
