Mearl Alvord 1920 ~ 2006

Our dearly loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away May 21, 2006, with his daughter by his side in Salt Lake City.

He was born Oct. 15, 1920, to Earl Edwin and Ida Mae Alvord. He married the love of his life, Thelma Griffiths, Jan 19, 1943. She passed away just 8 weeks ago on March 25, after 63 years of marriage. Now they are again dancing to all their favorite songs.

Mearl served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He retired from Interstate Motor Lines where he loved seeing the country as a long-haul truck driver. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survived by his daughter, Sharlene Alvord, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Florence Oxborrow, and brothers, Lloyd and Norman.

Preceded in death by a son, Farrell, great-grandson, Michael Tyler Alvord, brothers, Kenneth and Dean and sister, Thelma Williams.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
