William Keaton Montgomery, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at White Oak Manor.

Born April 2, 1918, in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late William Ferris Montgomery and Mary Jane (Burns) Montgomery and the husband of the late Elizabeth (James) Montgomery.

Retired from Cecil's Construction, he was a member of Hope Freewill Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Libby Laws and her husband Rick of Spartanburg; a son, Roy Montgomery and his wife Becky of Pacolet; a sister, Nettie Faye Bentley of Adamsburg; a brother, Cliff Montgomery of Adamsburg; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard Montgomery.

Visitation was 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel.

Graveside services weree held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Gilead Church Cemetery in Jonesville, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Cash.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the W. Keaton Montgomery Memorial Fund, P.O. Drawer 1530, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
