Charles T. "Charlie" Rutledge, Sr., 87, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Born September 6, 1917 in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Frank and Bessie Lee (Maxwell) Rutledge and was married for 48 years to the late Martha Glynn (Crymes) Rutledge.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, was retired as General Manager at Spartan Undies, Inc., and was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg.
Survivors include three sons, Charles T., Rutledge Jr. and his wife Barbara of the home, James Sidney Rutledge of Wellford, and Ronald Rutledge and his wife Ann of Spartanburg; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandson. He was also predeceased by two grandsons.
Visitation was held 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2005 at the Chapel, conducted by his grandson, the Rev. Jeff Rutledge. Burial followed at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
